A corporate version of Firefox, Thunderbird or Betterbird: your logo, your colours, starting on
your home page, and configured to the last detail. Almost every setting in about:config can be
set, and locked, centrally, so every desk runs the same browser your way.
Your browserGENS111
Look
Your logo and colours, as a theme installed and locked across every copy.
Start
Your home page, new tab page and first-run page, with your bookmarks and a managed bookmarks folder of company links on the toolbar.
Search
Your choice of search engines, including your own intranet search, with the default set and the rest removed if you prefer.
Help
A Help menu entry that goes straight to your own service desk.
Extensions
The extensions your staff need, installed and kept installed, and anything not on your list blocked.
Policy controlGENS112
Firefox reads its configuration from policies.json, Mozilla's enterprise policy file, and it
reaches almost every feature in about:config. Each setting can be a default staff may change,
or locked so they cannot.
Features
Telemetry, studies, Pocket, Firefox accounts, the password manager and developer tools switched on or off.
Security
Your certificates trusted, proxy and DNS over HTTPS set, cookies, tracking protection and site permissions decided for everyone.
Access
Websites allowed or blocked, single sign-on to your internal sites, and about:config itself blocked so the configuration stays yours.
Updates
Updates on your schedule, so a new release reaches staff when you have tested it.
Mail
Thunderbird and Betterbird take the same kind of policy file, and GENThunder provisions accounts, servers and signatures centrally on top.
Why botherGENS113
A branded browser and mail client is one your staff recognise as the company's own, and one
your support desk can rely on: the same version and the same settings on every desk, so a
problem on one is a problem you can reproduce. It is all open source, so there is no
per-seat licence to pay.
How it worksGENS114
We agree the look and the settings with you, build and test the customised clients, and help
you roll them out across the estate. When Mozilla releases an update, your branding and
settings go with it.
